An 8 Month Old Baby Critical After Being Raped by 28 Yr Old Cousin in Delhi and needed a three-hour surgery, after which she is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Doctors say she is stable. The baby was brought, severely wounded and bleeding, to the hospital on Sunday evening. This Incident Happened in west Delhi’s Subhash Nagar when her parents were both out of work, according to the police.

On Sunday, the girl child’s parents left for work leaving their two daughters with other family members. In the evening, the two girls were with their aunt. The accused allegedly carried the toddler to another part of the building on the pretext of playing with her. The other girl remained with her aunt.

When the baby girl fell unconscious and started bleeding, he panicked and fled,” said the officer. Upon returning home, the mother of the girls found the baby unconscious in blood. She informed her husband and other family members.

Later their parents rushed to the police and a case was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences or POCSO and other sections of Indian Penal code.

A medical examination has confirmed that the child was raped, the police said. DCP (northwest) Aslam Khan said a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at Subhash Place police station and the accused has been taken into custody.

The chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Swati Maliwal, has condemned the incident and said in a tweet, “How can Delhi sleep today when an 8-month-old baby has been brutally raped in Capital? Have we become so insensitive or we have simply accepted this as our fate?”
